Residencies

  • Jiwar – Gracia District, Barcelona, Spain

    This was five week residency in the Gracia Distirct and the last residency of artists from around the world at Jiwar. Boundaries Borders and Walls first overseas public and student engagement of the Boundaries Borders and Walls global art project meeting with almost 100 students in two high schools plus public engagement sessions in tattoo parlors, bars, bicycle shops, and other public gathering spaces. Side trips to Valencia, and Geneva Switzerland where additional public and private sessions were held.

    Over 125 creative works of students and others were displayed at the host Open Studio.

    While in residence over 150 creative works were contributed to the project collection and returned with us to the United States for exhibition.

  • Galleri Hammer - Uggerhalne, Denmark

    12 Looks at Hammer Bakker – a residency looking at the reclamation of an environmental area that was subjected to many years of alteration and use much of which was incompatible to flora and fauna. Invited as one of 12 artists to interpret the environment and its relationships with the surrounding community over time, the work created was a modern version of the Throne of Denmark entitled “Past, Present and Future.

  • Cheraw State Park - Cheraw, South Carolina

    Located outside the home town of Dizzie Gillespie, the State Park encompasses the Fall Line Road constructed in the 1730s to 1750s, this road was the precursor to Highway A1 that runs along the east coast. The residency incorporated creation of a work based on the history of the park and its environment as well as a presentation of an environmental talk “Garden Revolution: A Call to Trowels”. A week long exhibit of sculpture and graphic art was displayed at the community center with opening receptions.
